라 우니온은 엘살바도르 라 우니온의 자치 단체다.[1]
라 유니온의 수도.
인구 약 34,000명의 부서에서 가장 큰 도시다.
이전에 푸에르토 산 카를로스라고 알려져 있었다.
엘살바도르는 스페인으로부터 독립하여 중앙 아메리카 연합 지방을 형성하였다.
그 후 1824년 7월 13일에 라 우니온으로 개명되었다.

2005년 살바도르 정부는 라 우니온에 새로운 항구를 설치하기 시작했다.
이 항구는 옛 항만보다 2배 이상 크다. 
아카주틀라의 엘살바도르의 주요 항만보다 더 많다.
2012년 11월에 완공된 이 항구는 인근 산미구엘과의 경쟁이 여전히 강하다.
그러나 이후 지역 경제 성장과 안정을 증진시키는데 도움을 주었다.

역사
1522년, 파일럿인 안드레스 니뇨가 Golfo de Fontseca를 발견했다.
18세기 말에 라 우니온은 마을로 분류되었다.
스페인의 찰스 3세를 기리기 위해 이 이름이 붙여졌다.
찰스 3세는 1759년부터 1788년까지 스페인을 통치했다. 
1854년 2월 28일 "푸에블로 델 푸에르토 데 산 카를로스 데 라 우니온"이라는 도시 칭호를 부여받았다.
